Midwest Young Artists Conservatory, one of the largest youth music ensemble programs in the country, located just down the road in the old Stockade building in Fort Sheridan. From humble beginnings, they are now the largest youth ensemble music program in the Midwest currently serving close to 1,000 young people annually. Students hail from 78 communities in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana to study and rehearse at their permanent home in Highwood, IllinoisGreg is the Associate Director, Midwest Young Artists Conservatory. Greg and their administrative director are both longtime active Rotarians, primarily in the Highland Park and Highwood club.
MYAC is a nonprofit organization serving over 1000 students, many from Lake Forest/Lake Bluff. The programs include 9 orchestras, 9 jazz bands, 4 choirs, an early childhood music program, summer camps, and more. The outreach efforts include the Young Music Scholars Program, which provides tuition-free lessons and ensemble participation for students from undeserved communities, primarily Waukegan.
