Right To Be Free: Rescue, Rehabilitation, Reintegration of trafficked children

Right To Be Free is a non-governmental organization in Ghana dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of trafficked and vulnerable children in Ghana and the West African sub region, and the fight against human trafficking.

Eric Peasah will speak about his work rescuing child victims of human trafficking, their rehabilitation and reintegration into their communities and his efforts to combat human trafficking.

Eric Peasah is Founder and Executive Director of a non-governmental organization called Right To Be Free that rescues and rehabilitates trafficked children in Ghana and works to combat human trafficking. He was a key advocate in establishing the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Ghana Police Service and the Human Trafficking Act in Ghana. He has managed and led humanitarian and social services programs that focus on reducing poverty and improving the worth and dignity of children, women, the elderly and disabled, and others marginalized in society. Eric works closely with government, law enforcement and judiciary agencies, civil society organizations and NGOs to combat human trafficking in Ghana and the West African Sub-Saharan region. He was the former Field Manager in charge of Counter-Trafficking and Irregular Migration for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ghana and currently consults for the IOM in East Africa, particularly Somalia, on human trafficking, migrant smuggling and other migration related issues. He also works in Kenya, Djibouti and parts of East Africa. Eric serves on the National Diaspora Engagement Committee under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana and was recently appointed to Ghana's newly inaugurated Anti-Human Trafficking Management Board. He has a Bachelor’s and Masters degree in Social Work.
