About Habitat for Humanity Lake County
Habitat for Humanity Lake County (HFHLC) is an affiliate of Habitat International. Established in 1989, the sole purpose of Habitat for Humanity Lake County is to provide simple, decent and affordable homes that hard-working, low-income families can own.

We have provided homes for over 200 families in Lake County providing permanent housing for over 600 people. Habitat for Humanity Lake County also tithes 10% of our undesignated funds to build homes internationally. We have built over 300 homes in the Philippines housing over 1000 people.

Every night over 1700 people sleep in a safe, clean, decent and affordable home through the efforts of Habitat for Humanity Lake County.  Habitat in Lake County has also served 20+ families through our Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative program, which includes rehabilitation, weatherization, and A Brush with Kindness.

Habitat for Humanity Lake County is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Habitat Lake County is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

How the Habitat program operates in Lake County

Using Donations and volunteer labor, Habitat for Humanity Lake County partners with low-income, hard-working Habitat Partner Families to serve Habitat Partner Families Lake County.  Partner Families fall within certain income guidelines, complete 500 hours of sweat equity, attend 30+ financial education classes /budget counseling.  Partner Families then purchase a Habitat home with an interest-free, no-profit mortgage.
