Opportunities & Challenges Facing Lake Forest

Rob Lansing was elected as Mayor on April 4, 2017.  He has served on City of Lake Forest boards and commissions since 1985, including as City Council Alderman, the Zoning Board of Appeals, two Central Business District (Zoning) Task Forces, Chair of the Grove School Cultural Campus Commission, Telecommunications (cell tower) Planning Committee, Lake Forest Beach Restoration Commission (Recreation Committee Chair) and graduated from the Lake Forest Citizens Police Academy in the fall of 2016.  Rob has known well 15 former Mayors of Lake Forest, and worked closely with several.

Married to Kitty, who grew up in Lake Forest, they have raised three children, Stuart, Sage, and Gerrit in the community.  Stuart and Sage live in Lake Forest and each have two children.  Rob is a past Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, past Trustee of Lake Forest College, Co-Founder and past President of Conway Farms Golf Club, and a Director Emeritus of Lake Forest Bank & Trust.  A graduate of Wesleyan University with a BA in Government, Rob served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant in Naval Intelligence before earning an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School.

Rob is the Founder and Chairman of Westminster Capital LLC, a real estate investment management firm located in downtown Lake Forest.  For more than 35 years, this work has involved evaluating communities across the United States for property investment.  This work provides perspectives and ideas on what works well, and what does not, in planning, organizing and leading thriving towns and cities.
