Final Global Polio Eradication Effort

Carol will update club members on the current status of polio eradication, share experiences from her recent trip to Nigeria where she visited Borno State where the most recent cases of polio in that country were discovered in August 2016, relate the work that Rotarians are doing in the polio affected and high risk countries to reach every child with the polio vaccine, and describe what still needs to be done to achieve a polio free world.  Carol will also discuss what all Rotary members can do to help support this historic achievement.

Carol Pandak, ED.D., is the Director of Rotary International’s PolioPlus program where she directs all aspects of Rotary’s polio eradication activities including administration, advocacy, grants management, financial oversight, fundraising support, and volunteer engagement.  She supports Rotary’s International PolioPlus Committee, the volunteer committee that provides strategic guidance to the PolioPlus program.  In her position, she works closely with the partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative including WHO, UNICEF, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and serves on multiple cross agency management groups of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.
